Magento Integration Guide
This guide shows you how to connect Magento 1 (including OpenMage) or Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce with Libers Suite. Libers Suite reads your products through the Magento interface. You pick the products, create Knowledge Packs, and Libers Suite writes meta title, meta description and keywords back to Magento. For Schema.org you also add the header script to your theme.
Magento 1 and 2
In the form you choose your shop's version. The fields follow that choice.
Access you approve
On Magento 1 you approve access in your Magento admin. You enter your password only there.
A deliberate selection
You pick the products that should show up in AI search.
Magento 1 / OpenMage
The menu and button names below are from the English admin of OpenMage 20.16. If your admin is in another language, the labels follow that language pack.
Step 1: Prepare Magento 1
In the Magento admin under System, Web Services you set up three things. You need your admin user for that.
1. Create a REST role
Open System, Web Services, REST - Roles and click Add Admin Role. Enter "Libers Suite" as the name. On the Role API Resources tab, set Resource Access to Custom and check Retrieve and Update under Catalog, Product, Catalog Product. On the Role Users tab, select your admin user. If the list is empty, click Reset Filter. Saving with Save Role asks for Current Admin Password. That confirms your login.
2. Allow the product fields
Open System, Web Services, REST - Attributes and click Admin. Under Catalog, Product, Catalog Product check these boxes:
- Read: SKU, Name, Description, Short Description, Price, Status, URL Key
- Read and Write: Meta Title, Meta Description, Meta Keywords
If you turn on AI-optimized description in the shop form, also check Write for Description. Save.
3. Create access for Libers Suite
Open System, Web Services, REST - OAuth Consumers and click Add New. Enter "Libers Suite" as the name. Leave Callback URL and Rejected Callback URL empty. Magento already fills Key and Secret on this form. Enter Current Admin Password and click Save. You enter Key and Secret in Libers Suite in the next step.
Step 2: Connect the shop in Libers Suite
Open Shops in Libers Suite and add a shop with Add Shop. In the form, click Create Shop. You edit an existing shop with Edit and save it with Update Shop.
Choose Magento / Adobe Commerce and the version Magento 1 / OpenMage.
- Shop URL: your shop's address, for example https://www.your-store.com.
- Admin URL: the address where you log in to the Magento admin, for example https://www.your-store.com/myadmin. The address starts with https.
- Consumer Key and Consumer Secret from step 1.
After you save, Libers Suite opens your Magento admin. Log in and click Authorize. You return to Libers Suite and the shop is connected. The button Connect to Magento stays on the shop card.
Step 3: Pick products
On the shop card, click Import by SKU or category ID.
SKU list
Add the SKUs, one per line or separated by commas, up to 500 at a time.
Category ID
In the Magento admin, open Catalog, Manage Categories and click the category in the tree on the left. The ID is in the heading on the right, for example "Accessories (ID: 42)". The number in brackets in the tree shows the product count. Libers Suite loads the products assigned directly to that category. For a subcategory, enter that category's ID.
Libers Suite shows you the products it found. You select them and start the import. Products without a SKU are shown as a count. Products with a SKU are imported.
Sync on the shop card pulls the whole catalog. That fits small shops.
Manage access
Under System, Web Services, REST - OAuth Authorized Tokens you see the grant for Libers Suite. In the list, choose the action Revoke and click Submit. For a new grant, click Connect to Magento in Libers Suite.
Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce
You enter the username and password of an admin user with access to the catalog. If admin two-factor sign-in is on for your shop (default from Magento 2.4), we set up the connection with you. Write to us at hello@libers.ai.
Step 2: Connect the shop in Libers Suite
Open Shops in Libers Suite and add a shop. You edit an existing shop with Edit. Choose Magento / Adobe Commerce and the version Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce. Enter the shop URL, for example https://www.your-store.com, plus username and password. Click Create Shop. You save an existing shop with Update Shop.
Step 3: Pick products
On the shop card, click Category Import. You pick a category and then the products that should show up in AI search. Sync on the shop card pulls the whole catalog. That fits small shops.
Knowledge Packs and tags
You create and review Knowledge Packs as in the main documentation. On Magento, meta tags and Schema.org use two paths.
Meta tags via Magento
On publish, Libers Suite writes meta title, meta description and keywords into the Magento product fields. Magento puts them in the HTML head of your product pages.
Schema.org through the header script
JSON-LD, Open Graph and Twitter cards come through the header script in the theme.
Magento 1 / OpenMage: System, Configuration, then under General the Design entry, group HTML Head, field Miscellaneous Scripts.
Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce: Content, Design, Configuration, HTML Head, field Scripts and Style Sheets. That path is the one in the header script guide.
Libers Suite changes the visible description when you turn on AI-optimized description in the shop form.
When something does not work (Magento 1)
Invalid signature
Magento checks every request against its own shop address. If your shop sits behind a proxy or load balancer, Magento needs to know its address with https. Your agency or host checks that.
Permission missing
Check the REST role, Role Users and REST Attributes from step 1.
The web server blocks changes
Your host allows PUT for /api/rest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this work with Magento 1 and Magento 2?
Yes. In Libers Suite you pick Magento / Adobe Commerce and choose the version in the form. Magento 1 including OpenMage connects through an OAuth consumer. You then approve access in your Magento admin. For Magento 2 you enter the username and password of an admin user with access to the catalog. Are products synced automatically?
You start the import yourself. On Magento 2 through Category Import, on Magento 1 by SKU list or category ID. Sync pulls the whole catalog.
What if I have several thousand products?
Pick the products you want visible in AI search. On Magento 2 use a category, on Magento 1 a SKU list or category ID. How many Knowledge Packs you can create depends on your plan.
Which credentials do I need?
For Magento 1: shop URL, admin URL, consumer key and consumer secret. You create the consumer under System, Web Services, REST - OAuth Consumers. You then approve access in Magento. For Magento 2 you enter the shop URL, username and password of an admin user with access to the catalog.
